Long-Term Assessment of Temperature Management in an Industrial Scale Biogas Plant

Temperature management is one of the primary considerations biogas plant operation, and influences physical biochemical processes. An increase in temperature leads to an hydrolysis rate feedstock, while it can inhibit microorganisms taking part different stages anaerobic digestion. Because complexity processes within digestion process, there a lack knowledge about effects change on efficiency. Moreover, impact stirring directly affects distribution reactors. In this study, industrial-scale was examined, effect small changes (from operation 42 °C) efficiency studied laboratory under two conditions: with (at 40 44 without °C). The examination results from showed that heat transfer reactor not sufficient at bottom digester. Adaptation post-digester samples more challenging than digester samples. From digestate samples, higher biomethane generation could be obtained, resulting contact between microorganisms, enzymes, substrates. Overall, differences these changing conditions (approx. 6 NmL CH4 g VS−1) were significant adapted by process.
